How to Make Matcha — FUJI-AN Style

What You’ll Need

  • Matcha: 2g

  • Hot water: 80ml (about 80°C / 176°F)

  • Matcha bowl (chawan)

  • Bamboo whisk (chasen)

  • Tea sifter (optional)


How to Make Matcha

  1. Sift the matcha through a tea sifter into the bowl.

  2. Pour in the hot water.

  3. Using your wrist, whisk quickly in an “M” shape.

  4. When a fine, light foam forms on the surface, it’s ready to enjoy.


Tips for Best Results

  • Do not use boiling water; let it cool slightly before pouring.

  • Whisk gently without pressing the whisk firmly against the bottom of the bowl.

  • Aim for a fine, light foam rather than large bubbles.
